Ramadan 2006John 1:14 (The Message) “The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.” Christ became one of us, will we follow what he did and step into someone else’s shoes?

My mistake...

To all of you who still check this blog, i greatly apologize. Currently I am attempting to create a new blog for a Study Elyse and I are doing and in the process I some how managed to change this page and not our new one. I apologize for the change of things but praise God that none of out story has been erased. The only thing that has disappeared is the description of who we are and what we did for Ramadan. I am going to take this entry to recap that information for people who visit this in the future. First I would like to send an invitation to you all, to check out the next phase in our story at www.xanga.com/QBStudy.com.

Greetings to all of you who are new to our page. As an introduction, Elyse and I are roommates here in Boston and for the month of Ramadan (the Muslim holy month in which the Noble Quran was revealed to Muhammad peace be upon him) we decided to join the Muslims in praying five times a day and fasting. We also decided to wear hijab (modest dress which for us included the head scarf) because we wanted to see what it would be like to be a Muslim in America. No, we are not Muslims, and no we did not become Muslims after Ramadan, we are actually Christians and it was our desire to follow Jesus that lead us on this adventure. We have seen that there is a huge barrier between Muslims and Christians and we wanted to try and mend those relationships. We have learned through God's example that the best way to mend a relationship is by becoming like the one you want to mend the relationship with. We saw that God fixed his relationship with mankind by becoming in the image of the man Jesus and we decided to attempt a similar act of love by becoming in the image of Muslims to mend the relationships between Muslims and Christians. Our desire starting off was to learn as much as we could about Islam and we are both pleased to report that we learned far more than we ever could have imagined. This page is a dedication to that month which we will never forget. If you go back to the first entry, we welcome you to join us in our experience and learn a bit of what we learned as we lived our lives from the eyes of Muslims for a month.

We will be talking about our month and stuff like that and i wanted to mention it to you guys that we have met to see if you were interested. These are the only details i know but if we find out more, we will keep this updated. Already over... Stacey's thoughts

I can’t believe that Ramadan is already over. It will be so strange to leave the house Monday morning without hijab. I have learned so much this month and met some of the coolest people. The community as a whole is what I will miss the most. Walking into the pizza place and being greeted with the warmest smiles and Salam. Or passing someone on the street and greeting one another almost like you have know one another forever. To all of you whom I have been blessed to meet this month, thank you, for your hospitality, patience, understanding, and insight into Islam. You have been more than kind answering our questions and dealing with our sometimes not so tactful curiosity. We hope to stay in touch and possibly, I don't know, tell me what you think, we could set up a blog just for communication. A common ground to post questions and provide suggestions based on Christianity and Islam. I believe we have a lot we can learn about each other through each other and this could be a good way to communicate no matter where we are. We shall see. Well, Eid Mubarak and I hope you all have a good weekend, I am off to bed.

Converts

So really quick, we have met a lot (and by a lot i mean 4) of former Catholics who converted to Islam but no Protestants...if you know any can you send them our way, we'd like to talk to them.  Thanks!

I know I know...

Ok, so I realize that I am like the crappiest blogger in the world, that is why I never journaled or had a web page before. I just don’t make the time to set down and write stuff but here it goes, I have a hour before I have to leave for work and though I know it is not enough time to share what my life has been like the past like 20 days, I don’t think even if I were to write every day that I could fully express what is going on. So I will post, but instead of a big long thing I will make a couple by topic so you can pick and choose which you would like to read if you, like me are finding time something you have little of.

Stacey
